Zero lot line homes are a way to get the biggest detached house possible on the smallest lot size
So much amazing information to unpack in this 3D Printing how to making 1970's Datsun 240Z LED headlights with integrated brake cooling fins.
Architects have done a beautiful job making an incinerator look more like a sightseeing destination than a place to get rid of Taiwans garbage

It's a good idea when something is squeeking that you go have a look and find where the noise is coming from. It might save you a considerable amount of money on fan repairs!

This dust disposal drum kit that fits beneath the hopper of any dust collector or is designed to make the removal of explosive dusts safe and efficient
Modern PLM based CAD systems need to change the workflow when it comes to working with suppliers and fabricators.
Instead of going back and forth redlining pdf drawings and waiting weeks for revisions we need to emphasize sharing the 3D model and getting immediate feedback and working with a version control system to iron out the fabrication drawings the request for quotation will be based on

Researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology are studying how focused ultrasound arrays affect the operation of the human brain. In the past they have used electrical stimulation on the brain but they are hoping Ultrasound can stimulate brain tissue with more finesse such that they can control pain, stimulate emotions and even alter your thought processes.

I always like keeping track of who at the top of their game in the construction of portable and modular buildings so this worldwide list from Start-Us insights caught my attention. Love to hear others opinions on companies listed here.
Since I am Canadian I took a look at panelbuilt.com but it turns out they are a USA company based out of Tennessee. Excellent looking products though. I was impressed how they match the look of the wall panels on their portable buildings to the facades of their customers permanent buildings.

A Western Australia manufacturing magazine is reporting theres a huge demand for just about every kind of modular offices in Western Australia. From washrooms to lunch rooms all the way to complex ultra clean air controlled units

Chinese car maker BYD is hiring 5000 engineers to work on its self driving car technology. It's not hard to imagine that this will lead to BYD dominating the market for self driving cars even if they dont sell a single car in the USA.

A resident of the US state of New Jersey bought a dehumidifier from Costco advertised as being Energy Star compliant, but the State government wont give him the rebate promised saying that the device is not approved for the program.

A tiny piezoelectric crystal ultrasound probe is being implanted into sheep to test out real time monitoring of blood pressure and heart rate.
The device has been found to be very accurate and reliable and should soon become a new modality in preventing heart attacks and strokes

Architect Frank Gehry passed away in 2025 but left buildings all over the world as part of his enduring legacy.
This is particularly true in Toronto, Ontario where he designed a condo high rise condo with stunning stainless steel cladding that changes every time light hits the building in a different way.
Gehry loved the light in Toronto which constanly changes from one day and one season to the next. He had the stainless steel cladding made in Italy which was a massive expense.
Every panel form had to conform to an overall pattern for the whole building and so special metal forming machinery was needed to stretch and deform the metal yet keep its overall dimensions square and consistent so it could be installed properly.

If you want to sell modular housing units to California businesses, you need certification as a commercial modular manufacturer. Boxabl has secured this licence and can now get contracts from large corporations across the state

The best way to prevent a waste to energy incinerator from becoming an eyesore is combine it with parks and recreational facilities.
City governments in South Korea are doing exactly that with observation platforms built into smokestacks, boiler steam heated pools for fun and for therapy and water parks and playplaces for the kids.

If you are going to be building arenas and sports facilities you are going to be needing toilets and sometimes lots of them.
In many cases you need them year round which makes the option of using portable facilities less economical.
Then there is the question of how many people will be using these toilets which drives the decision to go to traditional toilets connected to the sanitary sewer system as opposed to composting toilets which require time for their contents to decompose.
Lets start with the Duux Bora smart 20L (5 US Gallon) room dehumidifier. It's a refrigerant style unit intended for residential use and features an app to control its functions. Uses a carbon filter to take odours out of the air.
The Dreo 20L (5 US Gallon) is much the same as the Duux. Knowing the dehumidifier market I suspect the innards are identical to the Duux. Its often only the outside of these units that change. They get rebranded with different company names and logos so that multiple sellers can create the illusion of choice!

The ProBreeze 1.5L (0.39 US Gallon) is a small unit that uses a Peltier technology module. These modules are fascinating. If you have ever seen the small 12 volt car beer and drink coolers that also uses a Peltier semiconductor. You put a lot of electrical through and it gets cold. When it gets cold moisture from the surrounding air condenses and the humidity goes down a tiny bit. Peltier devices are small but not very efficient.

Next up is the Osmo ProBreeze 1.3L (0.34 US Gal). It's a dessicant style and is very small. It uses water absorbing dessicant pods in the style of a coffee maker. Very wasteful considering dessicant only needs to be warmed up and dried out before it can be reused.

The Chinese city of Chongqing has completely eliminated its landfill operations and relies entirely from a brand new incineration and energy from waste plant.
This decision was born out of years of advance planning as the city doubled in size, local government found that there a practical limits to how big a landfill operation can get. In the end an incinerator is better because it actually gets rid of the waste as opposed to continually stockpiling it for years on end with the volume of waste increasing every year.
